Portable Worlds second edition
Applications now closed - successful artists to be officially notified in january 2008.

Contemporary Australian Media Art for the Mobile Phone Screen.

Portable Worlds is a survey of contemporary Australian new media artists working specifically for the mobile phone screen. The selected works reflect on the changing shape of communication and community, utilise the mobile phone as a creation tool and a personalised viewing space, explore miniatures and reflect on movement through Australian spaces.

The Portable Worlds program presents both the exhibition and youth workshop programs. A two-day workshop developed to complement the exhibition is available for young artists 13 - 19 years.

Portable Worlds is presented by the Australian Network for Art and Technology (ANAT); Australia's leading media and cross-disciplinary arts organization. ANAT provides skills development, research and networking opportunities for artists who engage with emerging technologies. A key focus of our 2007/08 program is the impact of mobile and wireless technologies with a focus on youth and regional audiences.

The workshop runs for 2 days, caters to young artists (13-19 years) and can be run within schools or community groups.
