Greg Giannis is an artist currently working with telecommunications systems and communities to create collaborative works that rely on public participation. His current project draws influences from peripatetic art practices and social cartography, and incorporates custom software development and media arts.

Through a workshop utilising mobile phones, the internet and walking, I engage participants from the local community to contribute to a collaborative new media work. Participants will produce images and text to create a 'map' of the locale around the exhibition/workshop venue that reflects their experiences of these public spaces. The work has been designed to enable communities to continue the project beyond the life of the exhibition, allowing for an emergent navigable ‘mapping’ that incorporates time and is dynamic.
Phones with cameras and MMS capabilities are available for participants to use during the workshop.
